In December of 2018 we started on an ambitious project to convert an old barn into an office and recreational space.
While the existing structure still had a solid frame and a surrounding stone façade that we decided to keep, there were parts, included a large adjoining silo that needed to be demolished.
Within the interior of the building, we gutted, cleaned, and removed the existing equipment that had been used when the barn was a functioning barn. We replaced the floors with a concrete foundation and updated the electric and plumbing within the space. We also added an HVAC system to cool/heat the space.
Once that was completed, we added wood floors and created new wood-paneled walls to allow for office space. The first floor of the building was divided into offices, a small kitchen, a workspace, and common areas. The upstairs was converted to a recreational area with bedrooms, bathrooms, and common areas.
On the exterior of the building, windows and doors were replaced. Stonework and wood were repaired and cleaned. Old paint was stripped, sanded off, and repainted and the roof was re-shingled.
